First Kill
Problem
Collaborate with a team to conceptualize, develop, and produce a horror short film that immerses viewers in a suspenseful narrative. The project encompasses various stages, including brainstorming and writing a script, creating storyboards, filming scenes, and editing the footage. The goal is to craft an experience that keeps the audience on the edge of their seats, utilizing a range of filmmaking techniques and storytelling devices to deliver a memorable horror film.
Solution
Collaboration and Teamwork: The initial assignment of roles ensured a fair distribution of work and fostered collaboration among team members. This approach facilitated a cohesive and unified vision for the film.
Production Roles: While filming, my roles were: boom operator and continuity supervisor. Meticulous attention to detail was crucial for maintaining continuity and ensuring visual consistency. This included considerations such as actor placement, props, and lighting
Post-Production Editing: This was my primary role. In the editing phase, principles of pacing and narrative structure were applied to create a compelling and suspenseful storyline. Techniques such as splicing together various takes and incorporating visual effects were used to enhance the film's impact and maintain audience engagement.
Sound Design: The selection and integration of sound effects played a vital role in enhancing suspense and atmosphere. By creating and sourcing appropriate sounds, the final audio complemented the visual elements to create a cohesive and immersive experience.
Final Touches and Polishing: The application of final touches, including color grading and refining visual effects, contributed to the overall aesthetic quality of the film.
